COURSE BREAKDOWN:
LEVEL 1
Foundations
Before you can influence your client's nervous system, you need to understand your own. Level 1 covers why your nervous system is your most important tool, what polyvagal theory actually means in a salon context, and why everything you have been taught about managing burnout has missed the point entirely.
Regulate Yourself First
You will leave with: a working understanding of co-regulation, the vagal brake, and your own nervous system patterns across a working week.
LEVEL 2
Attunement
The state your client arrives in determines everything about how the appointment goes. Level 2 teaches you to read that state the moment they walk through the door, understand what is shifting during the appointment, and work with what is actually in the room.
Reading the Client
You will leave with: the ability to identify a client's nervous system state on arrival and track how it changes across an appointment.
LEVEL 3
This is where the methodology moves into your hands. Level 3 covers how intentional touch, ritual, and deliberate presence shift the client's nervous system state in ways that no amount of conversation can achieve. The specific techniques that deliver it, in a real salon appointment.

You will leave with: a toolkit of touch-based and ritual interventions you can integrate into any appointment without adding time.
LEVEL 4
Integration
The Business of Being Regulated
What changes in a practice when the practitioner works regulated. Level 4 covers the business case, the career sustainability case, and the identity shift that happens when this work becomes not something you do, but who you are. Including the practical assessment that leads to the CSHP credential.
You will leave with: a pre-appointment protocol, a framework for career sustainability, and your CSHP practical assessment complete.
The Somatic Spa Ritual
Most hairstylists have never thought about what happens to a client's nervous system when they lean back into a basin. This is how you shift the entire experience. This isn’t just about teaching you how to “calm your client”, this is the most under-rated tools available to you. The sound of water. The warmth. The pressure of a hand on a scalp. The sudden stillness after the noise of the salon floor. You are creating safety, and building trust.

Go through each level live with Leah.
One level per month. End of September through December. Four live weekly calls per level. Apply the content in your salon between sessions. Collaborate and refine.

At the end of Level 4, submit a short video of yourself working with a real client. Pass the assessment. Receive the CSHP credential.
Leah Hanson spent over 23 years in the hair industry before she understood what was actually happening in every appointment.
After selling her nine-staff salon in 2019, stepping away entirely, and spending years studying breathwork and somatic practice, she returned to the chair and could not unsee what she now understood.

What prior knowledge is required to enrol?
None. You do not need any prior knowledge of the nervous system, somatic practice, breathwork, or psychology. You need to be a working hairstylist and willing to apply what you learn in real appointments.
How is the course content delivered?
The founding cohort runs live. One module per week, one live call per week with Leah across four weeks per level. Each call is recorded and uploaded to your course portal within 24 hours. After the founding cohort closes, the course becomes fully self-paced and filmed.
Will I receive a certificate after completion?
Yes. The CSHP credential, Certified Somatic Hair Practitioner, is issued on successful completion of all four levels and the final practical assessment. The assessment involves submitting a short video of yourself working with a real client, demonstrating at least one regulation tool, plus a brief reflection to camera.
What support is provided during the course?
During the founding cohort you have direct access to Leah through the weekly live calls. You can ask questions in real time, bring what you are noticing in your salon, and get direct feedback from the person who built the methodology. Between calls, a private community space gives you access to the other founding cohort members.

The Immersion Retreat
Everything in the online certification, plus an intimate, luxury in-person retreat with Leah and a small cohort of practitioners.
Three nights. A carefully chosen location. Supervised practice, in-person assessment, and credential presentation. This is an immersive experience where you will fully understand the power of your breath, body and nervous system.
For the practitioners who want to complete the certification in person and experience the methodology the way it was designed to be felt.
